1. An unjustified, intentional infliction of harm on another person, resulting in damages, by one or more acts that would otherwise be lawful.  *  Some jurisdictions have established this tort to provide a remedy for malicious deeds — especially in business and trade contexts – that are not actionable under traditional tort law.
