(1831) 1. An attorney’s request for a court’s permission to cease representing a client in a lawsuit.  2. A defendant’s formal request for a court’s permission to change the defendant’s plea or strike an admission. – Also termed (in sense 2) motion to withdraw a plea.” [1]
