1. A violation, usually of a rule or local ordinance and usually not punishable by incarceration. See VIOLATION (1). — infract, vb. [1]
1. A violation of law, particularly a traffic rule or regulation. Ando v Woodberry, 8 NY2d 165, 203 NYS2d 74, 168 NE2d 520. A breach or violation of a duty, or obligation.
1. A minor violation of law. EXAMPLE: a traffic citation.
2. A breach; an infringement.
