Motion for Protective Order<\/span>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>(1948) A party\u2019s request that the court protect it from\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>potentially abusive action by the other party, usually relating to discovery, as when one\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>party seeks discovery of the other party\u2019s trade secrets. A court will sometimes craft a\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>protective order to protect one party\u2019s trade secrets by ordering that any secret\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>information exchanged in discovery be used only for purposes of the pending suit and\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>not be publicized.\u00a0 <\/strong>Also termed motion for a protective order<\/em>.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
