{"id":4461,"date":"2017-08-10T14:13:21","date_gmt":"2017-08-10T14:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/reunitethestates.org\/?page_id=4461"},"modified":"2017-08-14T03:03:07","modified_gmt":"2017-08-14T03:03:07","slug":"rule-a-scope-of-rules","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/reunitethestates.org\/?page_id=4461","title":{"rendered":"Rule A \u2013 Scope of Rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(1) These Supplemental Rules apply to:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(A) the procedure in admiralty and maritime claims within the meaning of <a title=\"Rule 9 \u2013 Pleading Special Matters\" href=\"https:\/\/www.federalrulesofcivilprocedure.org\/frcp\/title-iii-pleadings-and-motions\/rule-9-pleading-special-matters\/\">Rule 9(h)<\/a> with respect to the following remedies:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(i) maritime attachment and garnishment,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(ii) actions in rem,<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(iii) possessory, petitory, and partition actions, and<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 60px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(iv) actions for exoneration from or limitation of liability;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(B) forfeiture actions in rem arising from a federal statute; and<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">(C) the procedure in statutory condemnation proceedings analogous to maritime actions in rem, whether within the admiralty and maritime jurisdiction or not.
