style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold;\" href=\"https:\/\/reunitethestates.org\/\/?page_id=2528\">U.S. Federal Judiciary<\/a><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b> cannot prevent officers or legislators from violating peoples&#8217; rights, <\/b><\/span><em style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold;\">however<\/em><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b> there are\u00a0statutes\u00a0designed to hold officers accountable if they exceed or abuse their authority. \u00a0When State (including local) Officials choose\u00a0not\u00a0to hold an officer accountable when the facts at hand show that action is necessary (e.g. City Administrators choose not to press charges against a city police <\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 18.6667px;\"><b>officer<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b>\u00a0who violated the law) \u2014 <em>that<\/em> is an instance wherein civilians may find it necessary to &#8220;stack the facts&#8221; and file a criminal (and likely civil) action themselves.\u00a0<\/b><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b>\u00a0One of the most fundamental U.S. codes designed to hold officers accountable for this type of crime is\u00a0U.S. Code Title 18\u00a0\u2013 Part 1 \u2013 Chapter 13\u2013\u00a0\u00a7242\u00a0Deprivation of Rights Under Color of Law\u201d:<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/uscode.house.gov\/view.xhtml?req=deprivation+of+rights+under+color+of+law&amp;f=treesort&amp;fq=true&amp;num=1&amp;hl=true&amp;edition=prelim&amp;granuleId=USC-prelim-title18-section242\"><img death results from the acts committed in violation of this section\u00a0OR\u00a0if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap,\u00a0aggravated (with a weapon) sexual abuse,\u00a0OR\u00a0an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse,\u00a0OR\u00a0an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life,\u00a0or both,\u00a0or may be sentenced to
