A title that indicates a beneficial interest<\/a> i<\/span>n property and that gives the holder the right to acquire formal legal title. \u00a0* \u00a0Before the Statute of Uses (1536), an equitable title was enforceable only in a court of chancery, not of law.<\/strong>\u00a0 Cf. legal title.
