A wrong that did not constitute murder at common law.\u00a0 *\u00a0 Only a few states have added to their murder statutes a third degree of murder.\u00a0 The other states classify all murders in two degrees.\u00a0 Manslaughter is not a degree of the crime of murder, but instead is a distinct offense.<\/strong> \u2014 aka murder <\/strong><\/em>of the third degree<\/strong><\/em><\/span>; murder three<\/strong><\/em><\/span>.[1]<\/span><\/p>\n
