The highest judicial officer in England.\u00a0 *\u00a0 The Lord High Chancellor sits as speaker of the House of Lords, is a member of the Cabinet, and presides at appellate judicial proceedings.<\/strong> \u2014 aka Lord Chancellor<\/strong><\/em><\/span>; Keeper of the King’s Conscience<\/strong><\/em><\/span>. 1. The presiding officer of the House of Lords in Great Britain.<\/span><\/strong>
