\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In<\/span> section 1<\/a> you assessed which type of<\/span> tort<\/a> (or breach of contract<\/a>) occurred, and in<\/span> section 2<\/a> you assessed which types of<\/span> injuries<\/a> and <\/span>losses<\/a> occurred as a result thereof.\u00a0 Now it is time to consider which form(s) of<\/span> relief<\/a> you’ll be requesting from the court.<\/span> <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

relief<\/a> – the objective of an action<\/span>, proceeding<\/a>, or<\/span> motion<\/a>; an award of<\/span> damages<\/a> or a judgment, decree, or<\/span> order<\/a> requiring an adversary to perform as directed or to refrain from specified conduct.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In summary, the court will generally award monetary relief in the form of<\/span> damages<\/a>, or nonmonetary forms of relief known as<\/span> equitable remedies<\/a>, which the court may grant via what is known as<\/span> injunctiive relief<\/a>.\u00a0 Depending upon the circumstances, the court\u00a0may <\/em>grant both damages and <\/em><\/span>injunctiive relief<\/a>.<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

damages<\/a> <\/span>–<\/span> money claimed by, or ordered to be paid to, a person as<\/span><\/span> compensation<\/a>\u00a0for loss o<\/span>r injury<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

equitable remedy<\/a> –<\/span> non-monetary form(s) of<\/span><\/span> relief<\/a>, enforced by way of filing for an<\/span> injunction<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
